The very core of Section 1776's mission is and always has been to give back. In 4 years years we have done just that. We host charity golf outings every year in which we have helped raise and donate over $135,000 to Veterans and First Responders in Southwest Michigan. Every year we also do a "Section Collection" where we collect food and clothing to donate to low income and homeless Veterans. In 4 years we have given back over 50,000 pounds of food and clothing to those in need across Southern Michigan.
Across the country we have donated thousands to help nationally known Veteran and First Responder causes to include:
- Team Rubicon
- Mission 22
- Concerns Of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S)
- National Fallen Firefighters Foundation
The Section Collection 501(c)(3) is a nonprofit that was founded in January 2017 with the main purpose of giving back to those who have or are currently serving/protecting this great Nation. All of the money is raised through fundraisers, events and through private donors. All of the funds are dispersed only after a thorough vetting to insure the money is going towards the intended purpose.
Here are some examples of how the money has been used:
- A Veteran’s house burned down so the nonprofit purchased household items they severely needed.
- A Veteran needed treatment that the VA could not offer, so the nonprofit paid for 33 sessions of neuropathway training.
- A Veteran was admitted to an in-patient treatment center after being diagnosed with severe PTSD and substance abuse issues. The nonprofit paid his mortgage for the month he was admitted.
- A firefighter lost his new-born son, so the nonprofit paid for related services.
- Purchase lift assist recliner chair for disabled Veteran.
- Purchase life saving gear for First Responders.
- Sent 5 Veterans and First Responders on fly fishing outreach trips.
These are just a few examples of how the funds are dispersed. Not a single penny has been used for administrative costs. The goal of this nonprofit is to have a lasting impact and help those who have served, or are still serving who find themselves in a difficult situation. The Section Collection is truly making a lasting impact on all it reaches.
